Với IELTS Listening, bạn sẽ không thể nào ghi đúng từ cần điền vào chỗ trống nếu như chờ đợi người nói nhắc lại đúng như những gì đã viết sẵn trong đề bài. Trên thực tế, ý của câu sẽ giống nhau, nhưng người nói sẽ dùng những từ khác so với thông tin đã cho sẵn. Nói cách khác, người ra đề đã paraphrase (nói lại theo một cách khác) thông tin mà người nói trong băng đưa ra. Điều này đòi hỏi bạn phải biết và hiểu các cụm Paraphrase để chuẩn bị tốt nhất cho bài nghe.
